Medical technology (medtech) encompasses medical instruments and diagnostic tools, including in vitro diagnostics (IVDs). According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), medical devices are defined by their therapeutic benefits, which either have a physical impact on the body or are employed to measure or monitor bodily functions. Examples of medical devices include artificial hips, blood pressure monitors, and orthodontic appliances.

Members of Hylife Biotech involved in the Australian medtech sector are represented and may participate in various aspects of medtech initiatives, such as committees, industry resources, advocacy efforts, and events. This collective endeavor is termed our AusMedtech programme. The purpose of this programme is to facilitate the commercial growth of the Australian medical devices and diagnostics sector and provide support to professionals within the medical technology industry.
